Hello Diagram Club, and welcome to issue #026.
To start: After my message last week I wanted to say a bit more about my circumstances. Some sad personal news - my Dad died last week. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, but it was still a shock.
So, as a result, I’m not quite functioning at 100%. I know, I could take a break, but have decided to continue with my work, but limit what I do a bit. Various reasons: I enjoy writing this newsletter, drawing isn’t a bad thing for me to be doing, and anyway stopping work isn’t really an option for the self-employed. So, for now: slightly shorter newsletters, and a bit more archive material. Things may vary a bit week to week. Thank you again for your understanding and support during this time.
Cycling cartoon of the week
This week: Buying a new bike - ways to soften the blow.
From my book The Cycling Cartoonist, published by Bloomsbury Sport. [All books]
Tax cartoon of the week
Cartoon originally drawn for Morgan Cameron Accountants.
It’s that time of year. This is for all the self-employed and other people doing their tax returns. I’ll be honest - probably taking the fine this year*. Sorry HMRC / everyone.
(*Yes, I know, mitigating circumstances, give them a call, etc etc)
News, admin announcements, etc
Shop - last days of sale
There’s a bit of a sale in my shop for a few more days, until 30th January. Titled ‘The Secret Sale’ as a way to encourage intrigue where there is none, and you’ll find it here: Dave Walker Shop - Secret Sale.
Church Times cartoon that you might like
I did a cartoon for Church Times this week - it’s called Volunteer Types, and I thought I’d tell you as it’s (possibly) applicable to other organisations who have volunteers. It’s quite graph-based, if that matters. It’s here - there’s a paywall but you get a free article or two:

Household Problem of the week
A new drawing: The Essential Household Item
For more Household Problems:
Colouring page of the week
You can download this colouring page to print here: The City - colouring page
It’s free to print, but if you’d like to regularly print or post my work perhaps you might like to consider Diagram Club Paid, which funds what I do - thank you.
